Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool reportedly lead the race to sign Sofyan Amrabat, valued at €40 million by Fiorentina, next month.

According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Tottenham are currently in pole position to sign Sofyan Amrabat along with Premier League rivals Liverpool. Fiorentina will demand €40 million to part ways with the Moroccan midfielder.

Sofyan Amrabat has been outstanding for club and country this season, and his performances helped Morocco reach the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. It will be interesting to see if either of Liverpool and Tottenham can sign the 26-year-old Fiorentina midfielder in the coming weeks.

It is no secret that Tottenham and Liverpool will have to improve their midfield options. And Amrabat would add some much-needed quality and depth to the side. Recent reports have suggested that the Reds have been preparing a “super offer” to sign the player.

Antonio Conte needs to bring in a quality, central midfielder, especially with summer signing Yves Bissouma struggling since joining the club. The former Brighton & Hove Albion star has not been able to hit top form since joining Tottenham. So Conte needs to bring in more options so that he can rotate his squad and keep the players fresh.

It will be interesting to see if the north London club can agree on a fee for the 26-year-old. Widespread reports have suggested that Tottenham are ready to open talks to sign Amrabat in January.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have had a number of injury problems in the midfield this season. And Amrabat would be a quality acquisition. He would add quality and depth to the side and Jurgen Klopp could help him improve further. The hard-working midfielder would be an ideal fit for Liverpool’s style. His ability to press without the ball could be an invaluable asset for the Reds.

Apparently, the midfielder could cost around €40 million next month. Both clubs have the financial resources to pay the reported asking price. So it will be interesting to see where Amrabat ends up eventually.

The 26-year-old has proven his quality in Italy, and he will be keen on taking the next step in his career. Amrabat is at the peak of his powers right now, and this is the ideal time for him to move to the Premier League. A move to Tottenham or Liverpool would be the ideal step up in the player’s career, and he could get to challenge for major trophies with the two English clubs.
