Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing 20-year-old Norwegian midfielder Sivert Mannsverk from Molde.

According to a report by French outlet Jeunes Footeux, Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs keeping tabs on Sivert Mannsverk. Molde will demand a Norwegian-record sale worth €10 million to part ways with the young midfield sensation.

Sivert Mannsverk is a largely unknown name around Europe, with the 20-year-old rising through the ranks in Norway. A native of Ovre Ardal, the youngster passed through the academies of IL Jotun and Ardalstangen IL before graduating from the Sogndal IL youth division. But he has risen in prominence since joining Molde last year.

The Norwegian midfield sensation is now a pivotal figure for Molde and has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 campaign. Mannsverk has chipped in with four goals in 40 appearances across all competitions. And the player’s progress has captured the attention of Premier League bigwigs Arsenal and Manchester United.

Arsenal bolstered the midfield unit by signing Fabio Vieira in the summer transfer window. But Mikel Arteta remains eager to bring in another central midfielder. And with Albert Sambi Lokonga failing to make his mark, it is not surprising why Arsenal will want to delve into the market.

Several midfielders, including Ivan Ilic, have thus emerged on Arsenal’s radar. But Sivert Mannsverk is also a viable target for the north London club. However, Arsenal will need to fend off stiff competition from Manchester United to sign the Norwegian midfield sensation.

Financial issues have gripped Manchester United, and they cannot spend much in January. In addition, top target Enzo Fernandez is keen on joining Chelsea this winter. And with Molde set to demand €10 million for Mannsverk, the 20-year-old is an affordable option. With Manchester United having healthy relations with the Norwegian outfit, a January move might be possible.

At €10 million, the Norwegian midfield sensation will be the costliest sale in the country’s history. And it will be interesting to see if Arsenal and Manchester United are willing to spend that much in January. For now, the youngster has emerged as an option worth considering for both Premier League clubs.
