La Liga champions Real Madrid have set their sights on 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation Ivan Fresneda after his breakthrough at Real Valladolid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Ivan Fresneda has emerged on the radar of Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are considering signing the 18-year-old Real Valladolid defensive sensation next year.

Ivan Fresneda is one of the brightest young full-backs in Spain, going from strength to strength since joining Real Valladolid. The 18-year-old is a native of Madrid and spent his formative years with five clubs, including Real Madrid. But he has found a stable footing since moving to Valladolid two and a half years ago.

The Spanish defensive sensation made his first-team debut for Valladolid in January 2022. And he has come leaps and bounds since making his La Liga bow earlier this season. Fresneda has made seven appearances this term and is now a regular for the Albivioletas. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with Real Madrid interested in him.

Real Madrid will likely delve into the market for a right-back next year amid Dani Carvajal’s sub-par displays. The veteran Spaniard has blown hot and cold since overcoming his injury nightmare. In addition, Lucas Vazquez has been inconsistent, while Alvaro Odriozola does not feature in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

The reigning La Liga champions have thus set their sights on several right-backs, including Jeremie Frimpong. And Ivan Fresneda is also a viable target for Real Madrid, considering he can give them over a decade of service. The 18-year-old can initially learn the ropes from Carvajal before taking over as the first-choice right-back.

In addition, with the 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation well settled in La Liga, he can hit the ground running if required. But Real Madrid will face intense competition for Fresneda. And while clubs across Europe are keen, several Premier League clubs can give Real Madrid a tough fight.

It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can fend off the stiff competition to sign Fresneda. For now, the 18-year-old Spanish defensive sensation has emerged as the latest right-back on Los Blancos’ radar.
