Manchester United are weighing up options as they are believed to be interested in Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

As per Caught Offside, Manchester United are exploring a potential deal for Ajax attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus in January. The 22-year-old Ghanaian international lit up the 2022 FIFA World Cup with his silky smooth moves and caught the attention of several entities.

Kudus does not fit the kind of profile as Manchester United are in the market for a centre forward. Having already lost the race to land Cody Gakpo, the Red Devils want to take the necessary steps with utmost caution.

Kudus is best suited whenever he is used down the middle. But the 22-year-old has been successfully utilised by Ajax in a more advanced role, which could make him an interesting prospect for Manchester United.

Ajax would likely demand a fee in the region of £40 million. But Manchester United’s current financial status won’t allow them to invest that much amount in January.

Kudus is open to moving to England but only for a club plying their trade in the Champions League. Manchester United are competing in the second-tier continental competition this season, and Europa League won’t be an attractive proposition for the player. Nonetheless, the Red Devils have made their approach for the 22-year-old.

Manchester United have mainly used Anthony Martial in the number nine position, while Marcus Rashford has also been tested to cope with this current situation. The arrival of a natural striker has been a priority for Erik ten Hag, who also hinted they are in the hunt for the right kind of player.

They have also been linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram, who is placed in the transfer market. Kudus also attracted interest from Barcelona. But the Spanish giants are running under a severe fund crunch. Si it could be difficult for them to fund a move for the 22-year-old World Cup breakout star.

Kudus has already netted 12 goals this term, including two at the World Cup. But after losing Antony and Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United in the summer, Ajax need to ensure they get the right price for their star midfielder.
