Christopher Vivell has reportedly asked Chelsea to sign French midfielder Kouadio Kone from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach.

According to reports from Simon Phillips, Chelsea director Christopher Vivell has urged the Premier League club to sign 21-year-old French midfielder Kouadio Kone from Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of the season.

The highly-talented midfielder joined the Bundesliga club back in 2021, and he has established himself as a key player for them. Kone has the potential to develop into a top-class player, and he could prove to be a quality long-term investment for Chelsea.

The Blues are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, and they have been linked with a number of players in recent months. One of those names is that of the West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice. The former Chelsea academy graduate is a top target for the Blues. And it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can secure his services in the coming months.

Rice is expected to leave West Ham at the end of the season, and he wants to join a club playing in the UEFA Champions League. Chelsea might have to shatter their transfer record to sign the England international, who is one of the best defensive midfielders in the league.

The Blues could lose N’Golo Kante and Jorginho as free agents at the end of the season. So Graham Potter will have to bring in more than just one midfielder. And Kone could be a quality addition alongside Rice, and he is likely to be an inexpensive option compared to the England international as well.

The 21-year-old could be tempted to move to the Premier League, and the opportunity to join a club like Chelsea will be a lucrative option for him. Graham Potter has done well to help young players develop under his management, and he could help Kone fulfill his potential as well.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can agree on a fee with Borussia Monchengladbach in the coming months. The Bundesliga outfit paid €9 million for the midfielder, and they will look to make a hefty profit on him when Chelsea come calling at the end of the season.
