Manchester United may have the upper hand in pursuing Jeremie Frimpong, with the presence of Erik ten Hag considered vital.
According to Give Me Sport, Manchester United reportedly have an edge in pursuing full-back target Jeremie Frimpong. The Netherlands international could be open to a move to Old Trafford, with the presence of Erik ten Hag considered vital in this case.
Jeremie Frimpong is having a fine season with Bayer Leverkusen, scoring five goals this season. His attacking displays landed him a place in the Netherlands World Cup squad, although he did not play a single minute as Denzel Dumfries was the first-choice starter.
The 22-year-old defender is expected to have a bright future, and certainly, there are chances he could pursue a career in the Premier League. While there is tremendous interest in the right-back following his displays this season, Manchester United may find themselves in pole position for the right-back.
The report insists Manchester United may enter the market for a new right back to replace Aaron Wan Bissaka. While Erik ten Hag recently outlined the problem with the right-back, he also encouraged the former Crystal Palace star.
However, if Wan Bissaka is sold in January, the Red Devils could look at Frimpong to replace him. While Leverkusen remains uninterested in a sale during the January window, they might ease their stance if the £25 million asking price is met.
Moreover, the report insists the presence of Ten Hag could prove vital in the chase as Frimpong may prefer to play under his compatriot. There are also doubts whether the Leverkusen star would prefer to remain second fiddle to Diogo Dalot, although there is every chance of him claiming his place in the starting lineup in future.
Frimpong will bring plenty of attacking qualities from a right-back position that Manchester United currently lacks. While Dalot has proved a good bet, he is yet to flourish properly as an attacking unit in the role. Whether the Red Devils are willing to move next month or in the summer remains the question, but Frimpong is a target.
