Intermediaries have reportedly offered Tottenham Hotspur the chance to sign disgruntled Barcelona attacker Memphis Depay in January.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Tottenham will have the chance to sign Memphis Depay in the January transfer window. The Dutch attacker might leave Barcelona next month to get his career back on track.

Memphis Depay had established himself as one of Europe’s best attackers during his stint with Lyon. And he might have had a lot of hopes and aspirations while joining Barcelona in a Bosman move last year. But despite finishing 2021/22 as Barcelona’s joint-top scorer, the 28-year-old is now a bit-part player at Camp Nou.

The Dutchman had already fallen in the pecking order after Barcelona’s January business. And Depay became an afterthought in the first half of the season following the arrival of Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. The player has thus managed only 131 minutes of game time across three outings. And a January exit might be on the cards, with Tottenham having the chance to sign him.

Depay has been on Tottenham’s radar for some time. And recent reports have suggested that the north Londoners are in touch with the Barcelona attacker. The interest in the former Lyon forward is understandable despite signing Richarlison in the summer transfer window.

Antonio Conte also has Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, and Dejan Kulusevski in the offensive unit. But Kane has been the only dependable figure for Tottenham this season. The Italian manager can thus do with an attacking reinforcement, bringing Depay into the picture. And intermediaries have now offered Tottenham the opportunity to sign the Barcelona attacker.

The 28-year-old reportedly wants to leave Barcelona in January as a free agent to recoup a transfer bonus. And signing Depay for nothing might be an attractive proposition for Tottenham. But recent reports have suggested that Barcelona will demand around €15 million for the player.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham will be open to shelling out the sum to sign the Dutch attacker. For now, Spurs have the chance to secure the services of the disgruntled Barcelona attacker in January.
