Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is fascinated by Arsenal’s ongoing project and could change his mind about the Gunners.

According to Italian outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is open to joining Arsenal if the north London club can present an important offer. The Serbian is fascinated by the project embarked on under Mikel Arteta and has seemingly changed his previous stance on the Gunners.

Sergej-Milinkovic Savic remains one of the sought-after players in the market, but his substantial asking price has proved difficult for interested clubs to digest. The midfielder remains one of the main players at Lazio and has 7-goals and 8-assists for club and country this term.

He had wanted to move away from Lazio for some time, but the Italian club’s huge valuation of nearly €120 million has blocked any prospect of leaving the club. The Serie A side are unlikely to cave in during the January window, as interested parties could look forward to making reasonable bids in the summer.

Milinkovic-Savic will have a year left on his deal when the season ends. The timeline of his contract puts Lazio in a tough spot, and they may have to entertain low bids for their prized asset. They could, however, look to attract offers for the 27-year-old midfield powerhouse in January, with a host of clubs waiting on the wings.

Arsenal are one of those, as Mikel Arteta has remained interested since the summer window. The Gunners were in no position to pay an exorbitant sum for the midfielder when their priorities differed. As the Gunners remain in the market for a new midfielder, the Serbian’s name emerges again, and there could be movements.

Arsenal are ready to step up the interest in Milinkovic-Savic and make enquiries with his agent Mateja Kezman. The 27-year-old midfield powerhouse has reportedly changed his previous stance about the Gunners and could remain open to joining them.

He is fascinated with Arteta’s project and could look forward to an important proposal from Arsenal. If the conditions are right for him and Lazio, a move could transpire in January. The Gunners are unlikely to pay a huge fee in January but return with a reasonable offer in the summer when the player has 12 months left on his deal.

The Gunners remain in the market for a midfielder, although their priority is Youri Tielemans of Leicester City. Arsenal are expected to make an important offer to tempt the Foxes into a sale in January or take the Belgian on a free transfer after the season ends.

As for Milinkovic-Savic, doors could open when the season ends as he will come into a position of power. Lazio will have no choice but to accept reasonable offers or risk letting him leave on a free transfer in 2024.
