Real Madrid and Liverpool will reportedly need to fork out €120 million to sign Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Serie A giants Lazio.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Lazio will demand €120 million to part ways with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian midfielder is a target for Real Madrid and Liverpool, with Paris Saint-Germain also keen on signing him.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been the cream of the crop in Serie A since joining Lazio from KRC Genk in August 2015. A mainstay in the middle of the park for the Italian giants, the 27-year-old has transformed into a well-rounded midfielder in the last seven years.

The Serbian midfielder has turned out over 300 times for Lazio, chipping in with 63 goals and 58 assists. But the Serie A giants will likely lose Milinkovic-Savic next summer when he will have a year left on his contract. Such a situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Real Madrid will prioritise signing Jude Bellingham next summer. But the English international is also a top target for Liverpool, with several other bigwigs pursuing him. So the Merengues need to keep their options open, bringing Milinkovic-Savic into the picture. And recent reports have even claimed that intermediaries have offered the 27-year-old to Real Madrid.

But as is the case in the race to sign Bellingham, Real Madrid will have to fend off Liverpool to sign Milinkovic-Savic. And the Reds’ interest in the Serb comes in the wake of the midfield unit’s struggles this season. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have blown hot and cold, while James Milner is in the twilight of his career. In addition, Thiago Alcantara has endured fitness issues.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will likely lose Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as free agents next summer. So Milinkovic-Savic is a viable target who can transform the Merseyside club’s midfield unit. But the Serbian midfielder will cost a bomb, with Serie A giants Lazio demanding €120 million for him.

While Real Madrid might be able to afford to pay €120 million, the sum will likely be beyond Liverpool’s reach. Meanwhile, the two powerhouses face competition from Paris Saint-Germain, who should also be in the mix for the 27-year-old. It will be interesting to see if Milinkovic-Savic’s stint in Serie A ends next year.
