Intermediaries have reportedly offered Barcelona the chance to sign Adrien Rabiot, a target for Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to a report by 90min, Barcelona will have the opportunity to secure the services of Adrien Rabiot next year. The Juventus midfielder is also a target for several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea.

Adrien Rabiot has endured a topsy-turvy ride in his professional career thus far. The Frenchman was supposed to be one of the best young midfielders of his generation. But attitude issues and run-ins with the higher-ups at the club and international levels have hampered him in the last few years.

The 27-year-old left Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent to join Juventus but has struggled to perform consistently. However, Rabiot has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 season thus far, chipping in with five goals and two assists in 16 appearances. At the same time, the player has been a pivotal figure for France at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

But Rabiot’s contract situation has left Juventus in a spot of bother, as his deal will run out next summer. Such a situation has captured the attention of several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea. And intermediaries have now offered Barcelona the chance to sign the French international.

Barcelona will delve into the market for a midfield reinforcement next year amid uncertainties surrounding Sergio Busquets’s future. While Rabiot will not be a like-for-like replacement, he can still play as the deepest of three midfielders. In addition, he will likely join Barcelona at the peak of his powers. Most importantly, the player will be a cost-effective midfield solution fitting their budget.

As for Chelsea, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are in the final year of their respective contracts. So Rabiot could replace either of the two ageing midfielders and beef up Graham Potter’s midfield unit at Chelsea. Meanwhile, Arsenal will look to sign Rabiot as Mikel Arteta wants more options to rotate his squad efficiently. The 27-year-old is thus a viable target for Arsenal.

Apart from Arsenal and Chelsea, several other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham, are interested in Rabiot. It will be interesting to see who among his many suitors wins the race to sign the French international next year.
