Matheus Cunha could leave Atletico Madrid, as he has been offered to Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United.
As per 90min, Matheus Cunha could leave La Liga Atletico Madrid with several Premier League clubs emerging as his destined target. Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle United are yet to initiate contact with his entourage, but a move cannot be ruled out entirely.
Cunha has failed to perform to his potential and Atletico Madrid are considering letting the player leave to get rid of his massive wages. The 23-year-old was brought in from Hertha Berlin in 2021, but he has not made a mark yet.
The Rojiblancos are so desperate to move the player off the 23-year-old books that they are ready to approve a loan deal for the youngster. Manchester United are looking for necessary reinforcements as Erik ten Hag wants to add at least one forward to his ranks.
Except for Marcus Rashford, no other player has managed to provide standout performances. In addition, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo opened the way for the arrival of another forward. Cunha has reportedly emerged as a viable target, with Manchester United now offered the chance to sign him.
Chelsea have been dealt with a massive blow as an injury to Armando Broja has derailed their current plans. And Graham Potter is desperate to ring in some changes as soon as possible. So being offered the chance to sign Cunha comes as a bright coincidence.
The 23-year-old Brazilian striker should be able to provide adequate cover, as alongside being a centre forward, he can also be deployed on the flanks which could be an additional feature if this move materialises.
Chelsea are unlikely to go for a permanent move, and a loan deal might be suitable for both parties as a fresh approach could ignite Cunha’s skills. There could be a number of players leaving Stamford Bridge this January, and Cunha could be one of the arrivals in West London.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United have been the surprise package this season as they have emerged as an alternative force in the Premier League race. Eddie Howe’s charges have been flying high. But the Newcastle manager could use an additional forward as he does not want to get off track when club football resumes in December.
They are currently the richest club in the world and definitely want to put the use of their available resources to get a deal done for the talented forward. Meanwhile, apart from Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United, the 23-year-old has also been offered to Liverpool. It will be interesting to see if his nightmare in La Liga ends in January.
