Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly compete with Barcelona in the race to sign Wilfried Singo from Serie A club Torino next year.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tuttosport, Wilfried Singo has emerged on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur. The north Londoners are set to go head-to-head with Barcelona for the 21-year-old full-back. But Serie A club Torino will look to secure his long-term future in the coming weeks.

Wilfried Singo has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Serie A since joining Torino. After arriving from his homeland, the Ivory Coast international joined the Italian club’s under-19 team in January 2019. But he took little time to break into the first-team squad and has been a regular since his debut in August 2019.

2020/21 was Singo’s breakthrough season with Torino. And the 21-year-old is now a pivotal figure for the Granata. As for his exploits in the ongoing season, the player has chipped in with two assists in 13 outings. And Singo’s exploits have captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona and Tottenham.

Barcelona will delve into the market for a right-back sometime next year. That is because Hector Bellerin was always going to be a short-term solution for the Blaugrana. And with the Spaniard failing to make his mark at Spotify Camp Nou, Barcelona will have no reason to extend his stay beyond this season.

In addition, Sergi Roberto is no longer a dependable figure amid his never-ending fitness issues. Singo has thus emerged as a viable target for Barcelona. But the Catalan giants need to fend off stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur to land the 21-year-old full-back.

Tottenham showed interest in Singo in the summer transfer window. But they eventually settled on Djed Spence as their right-back signing. However, the youngster has not managed to convince Antonio Conte and might leave Tottenham on loan in January. In addition, Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty have been unimpressive, thus compelling Tottenham to look for a right-back.

Meanwhile, Serie A club Torino will look to tie Singo to a new long-term contract. But considering he will have 18 months left on his deal in January, Barcelona and Tottenham will smell blood. It will be interesting to see if the 21-year-old decides to move to either Spain or England next year.
