Arsenal are reportedly preparing an offer for Facundo Torres ahead of the January transfer window after chasing the Orlando City winger for a while.

According to Lorenzo Lepore, Arsenal could make an offer for Facundo Torres in the coming weeks after following the winger’s progress for a few months. The Orlando City attacker is a target for Mikel Arteta, as talks seem to have progressed well.

Arsenal are in the market to make key signings to reinforce the squad during the January transfer window. The Gunners have found themselves in a terrific position as they lead the Premier League table by five points during the World Cup break.

Mikel Arteta wants players that could give the team a different dimension. A new winger and a midfielder are considered vital, but they might also go with a new forward if needed. The idea is to sign someone who drastically improves the side; hence, Arsenal are heavily linked with Mykhaylo Mudryk.

On the other hand, the Gunners could sign a versatile forward who could play on the wings and through the centre. Moreover, this player need not be a readymade product, as Arteta may want to develop such a star further. Orlando City’s Facundo Torres is a target, and the Gunners could make a move in the following weeks.

The 22-year-old South American winger has featured on Arsenal’s radar for a few months. The Gunners got a first-hand experience watching the winger during their pre-season tour to the USA. The Uruguayan international even scored against the north Londoners, but his overall quality and hardworking style may have strengthened Arteta’s desire to sign him.

After making enquiries some time ago, the Gunners could formalise their interest with a concrete offer. Lorenzo Lepore has suggested Arsenal and Torres could talk again in the coming days and then decide on an outcome.

The offer could tempt Torres as he may want to take advantage of the chance to further his career. At the Emirates, he will undoubtedly begin by covering for several first-team regulars, although he has the potential to become a strong contender in the future.

The Uruguayan international is certainly not the answer to Arsenal’s chances to win the Premier League title. But he seems like a player Arteta wants to develop. The north Londoners are looking at other similar players. But at the moment, the 22-year-old South American winger seems like the clear favourite.
