Barcelona have established contact with Atletico Madrid for Portuguese international Joao Felix, who has a €100 million price tag.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona are set to table a proposal to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. The Portuguese international, valued at €100 million, is one of the top targets next year as Xavi Hernandez eyes further signings to strengthen the squad.

Joao Felix seems to have suffered at Atletico Madrid, as the Portuguese attacker cannot fit into Diego Simeone’s tactical system. The 23-year-old remains a regular for the Rojiblancos and scored three times already this season in 12 appearances.

Back in October, widespread reports suggested the Portuguese international was unhappy at the club and sought a move away. Naturally, many clubs were reportedly linked with moves. Those included some of the biggest sides in the Premier League and Barcelona.

While Barcelona were reportedly offered the chance to sign him, a deal did not seem feasible for the Catalan giants at that time. The table-toppers in La Liga are in a difficult situation financially, and nobody can see them paying enormous fees for Felix.

On the other side of the continent, Manchester United were reportedly quoted around €100 million to secure Felix, as Erik ten Hag remains keen. Barcelona’s interest refuses to go away, and the Blaugrana could come to the table with a viable offer. The report suggests Barcelona are willing to oblige towards Atletico’s demands but would like to structure a deal to ease the payments.

Barcelona reportedly want to take Felix on an initial loan deal for one and a half seasons. For this, they would pay around €20 million and then hold the option for a permanent transfer for a sum of €70-80 million. The Catalan giants believe Atletico Madrid will get what they are demanding through such an arrangement.

Whether Atletico Madrid agree to such terms remains the question. The Rojiblancos are reportedly in a financial mess themselves. However, they might consider a good deal that could ease their problems and allow them to find a replacement in the market.

The Spanish outfit could also entertain offers from elsewhere. The more important thing would be Felix’s wishes and whether he wants to join Barcelona. In any case, the €100 million-rated Portuguese international seems destined to depart the Civitas Metropolitano. But a deal may happen only during the summer.
