Arsenal and Chelsea will reportedly compete with Liverpool for Spanish winger Nico Williams next year, valued at €50 million by Athletic Club.

According to a report from Goal, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on signing Nico Williams next year. The 20-year-old Spanish international has a release clause worth €50 million.

Nico Williams has been a key player for Athletic Club this season, and he has impressed in La Liga with his performances. The talented attacker has four goals and four assists to his name across all competitions, and he could prove to be a quality, long-term addition to all three clubs.

Arsenal need to add more depth to their attack, and Williams could be a quality long-term acquisition. His arrival would allow Mikel Arteta to rotate the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka during the second half of the season.

However, it seems quite unlikely that the player will want to move to the Premier League midway through the season. The Spanish winger is a regular starter at the Spanish club and he will not want to jeopardise his chances of regular football by moving to a foreign league in the coming weeks.

As far as Liverpool and Chelsea are concerned, both teams could use reinforcements in the attacking department. The likes of Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic have been underwhelming for the Blues this season, and Graham Potter could use an upgrade.

As far as Liverpool are concerned, Jurgen Klopp is lacking a quality backup option to Mohamed Salah, and the 20-year-old winger could be the ideal alternative. During Salah’s absence, Klopp has had to use Harvey Elliott as an inverted attacking midfielder on the right flank. And signing Williams will give him a more natural replacement for the Egyptian international.

The Spanish winger has a release clause of €50 million, and all three Premier League clubs have the finances to pull off the move. If they decide to trigger his release clause in January, Athletic Club will be powerless to stop him from leaving. Recent reports have claimed that Liverpool lead the race to sign Williams.

A move to the Premier League could help the player accelerate his development and he will get to work with world-class managers like Jurgen Klopp. But Manchester United and Real Madrid are also keen on signing the Spanish winger. So it will be interesting to see who wins the €50 million race to sign Williams.
