Barcelona will reportedly be able to sign top left-back target Javi Galan from Celta Vigo for €15 million next year.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Javi Galan will be an affordable, low-cost target for Barcelona next year. The Celta Vigo left-back will be available for just €15 million, thus fitting into the Catalan club’s budget.

Javi Galan has established himself as one of the most dependable left-backs in Spain since his breakthrough in La Liga two seasons ago. While SD Huesca went down to the second division, the 28-year-old remained in the top flight, joining Celta Vigo. And he has been enhancing his reputation since then.

The Spanish left-back is enjoying a solid 2022/23 season, chipping in with one goal and two assists in 15 appearances. And Galan’s progress has captured the attention of several of Europe’s high-profile clubs. Barcelona could be one of his prospective suitors next summer.

Barcelona considered signing Galan in the last two summer transfer windows. But while they failed to bring someone in last year, they signed Marcos Alonso this past summer. And the Spaniard has established a foothold in the first-team squad at Spotify Camp Nou, even playing as a centre-back.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona will soon tie Alonso to a new contract, with his current deal expiring next summer. But Jordi Alba’s future with the Blaugrana is up in the air, with the veteran left-back seeing his performance levels wane considerably. And while Alba wants to fight for his place, he might leave Barcelona next summer.

So the Catalan giants are going to dip their toes in the market for a left-back next summer. Galan has thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar again. And the 28-year-old will be an affordable target for Barcelona next summer, with Celta Vigo demanding only €15 million to part ways with him.

Despite the financial issues, Barcelona should be able to afford to pay €15 million to sign the Spanish left-back. And keeping aside the sum for Galan will help the Catalan giants raise more funds to pursue more expensive targets for other positions. It will be interesting to see if the Spaniard joins Barcelona in a deal worth €15 million next year.
