Edouard Mendy is the latest goalkeeper to feature on Tottenham’s list of possible Hugo Lloris replacements.

According to 90min, Eduoard Mendy is being offered to Tottenham as a possible replacement for Hugo Lloris. The north Londoners want a long-term successor to the club captain. And the Chelsea ace has become the latest to feature on their long list of potential targets.

Edouard Mendy is having a terrible season at Chelsea. He saw his stature peak under former manager Thomas Tuchel. But Graham Potter prefers Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal.

Mendy wanted to play more before the World Cup but barely got on the patch barring the last few games due to Kepa’s injury. All three of his last three Premier League appearances resulted in defeats for Chelsea. The Senegal international is already considering an exit in January to play elsewhere.

During his time as Chelsea’s No.1, Mendy won the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup and became an African champion with Senegal. The Chelsea ace has now reportedly been offered to Tottenham, with the idea of succeeding Hugo Lloris in the long term.

The France captain remains the firm choice under Antonio Conte, who even convinced him to sign a new contract valid until 2024. But Spurs are ready to acknowledge the need to find a long-term successor, and Lloris is ready to take aid in the process.

Intermediaries may be at work in offering Mendy to Spurs. The Chelsea ace is still in the game and can play at the top level for many years. Tottenham are looking at many market options and remains linked with three Premier League goalkeepers.

Robert Sanchez is a target for Spurs alongside England international Jordan Pickford and Brentford’s Jose Raya. All those players will cost considerably in the market, so Spurs could switch their attention toward other markets.

For instance, the Italian market has proved useful for Tottenham. They have remained active in scouring Serie A stars since Fabio Paratici became their director. Former Arsenal star Wojciech Szczesny has reportedly been offered to Spurs. However, it might be a media gimmick, as the Italian press continues to link the Juventus star with an exit.

In truth, Tottenham might target Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario, who also remains on Juventus’s radar. However, if they are looking for a quick fix to their goalkeeping situation, then Mendy could be a viable option for Tottenham.

Chelsea rarely sell their players to London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal. Mendy still has a contract until 2025. So he will unlikely join Spurs unless the north Londoners make an irresistible offer for the Senegal international.
