Tottenham are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper at the end of the season with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Robert Sanchez on their radar.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, 2022/23 will be Hugo Lloris’s final season as the first-choice goalkeeper at Tottenham Hotspur. And Spurs are lining up Robert Sanchez as his replacement. Brighton & Hove Albion will demand £35 million to part ways with the Spanish international.

The experienced Frenchman has a contract at the London club until 2024. But his form has been sub-par this season, and he has been heavily criticised by the fans and pundits. It is clear that Lloris is past his peak and he needs replacing. Recent reports have linked Tottenham with Unai Simon.

Robert Sanchez has done well at Brighton, and it remains to be seen whether the Londoners can agree on a fee with the Seagulls. Apart from his shot-stopping abilities, Sanchez is excellent with the ball at his feet and his distribution from deep will add a new dimension to Antonio Conte’s side.

The report adds that Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is on Tottenham’s radar as well. Another shot-stopper on Spurs’ wishlist is Illan Meslier. It will be interesting to see who they end up signing.

Journalist Graeme Bailey has said, “Hugo Lloris has a deal until 2024, but it is highly unlikely he will be Tottenham number one after this season. He has been up and down and it is understood Tottenham are looking for his long-term replacement. And we can reveal that a number of options are in the Premier League.”

“They have been linked to the likes of Jordan Pickford, Robert Sanchez and Illan Meslier, and these are the options for them. They really like Sanchez at Brighton – but it is likely that won’t be until the end of the season.”

Pickford is likely to be a more expensive addition compared to Sanchez, who has a £35 million price tag. Also, it would be easier to lure a player away from Brighton. The opportunity to join Spurs would be an attractive option for the Spanish international, and he would get to experience Champions League football with Tottenham.

Sanchez is already well settled in the Premier League, and he should be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact at the London club. Spurs need to cut out the mistakes from their performances to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal.

Despite a good start to the season, their defence and goalkeeping has let them down in crucial games. Conte needs to bring in a quality right-back as well. The likes of Emerson Royal, Djed Spence and Matt Doherty have been quite underwhelming so far this season for Tottenham.
