Chelsea had been linked with a move for the Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in recent weeks, but they will unlikely land him in January.

According to a report from Give Me Sport, Chelsea will be priced out of a move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Serie A giants Napoli want to recoup around €100 million for the 21-year-old Georgia international.

The 21-year-old Napoli winger has been in outstanding from the season. He has been one of the most proficient attackers in Serie A. And Kvaratskhelia has also impressed in the UEFA Champions League with top performances against clubs like Liverpool.

It is no surprise that the top European clubs are looking to sign him in the near future. But his agent has recently revealed to Fabrizio Romano that the player will cost around €100 million.

Journalist Dean Jones has now revealed to Give Me Sport that the player would be an upgrade on the likes of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech. But Chelsea are unlikely to be able to afford Kvaratskhelia in January.

Speaking to GMS, Jones said: “I think he would be an upgrade on those players. I’m not convinced that they will get him. The player is going to have a huge fee put on his head.

“Certainly, I think he’ll be priced out of a move in January. I don’t think they want to sell him then. I can’t see it happening. That’s what I’ve been told.”

The Blues desperately need attacking reinforcements, and they have looked toothless in the final third this season. The likes of Pulisic and Ziyech have been extremely underwhelming this term, and both players have been linked with possible moves away from Stamford Bridge in the upcoming months. So the interest in the Georgian attacker makes sense.

Meanwhile, Kvaratskhelia is already playing at a very high level for Napoli and has the potential to develop into a future superstar. Signing him in the upcoming windows could prove to be a solid, long-term investment for Chelsea, and it remains to be seen whether they can procure the funds to sign the player.

€100 million seems like an awful lot of investment right now. But the player has the potential to justify the outlay in the long run. The winger has a long-term contract with the Napoli. So it is perfectly understandable why the Serie A giants will demand a premium for his services.
