Manchester United have scouted Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz and are willing to offer him a contract in January.

As per Fichajes, Manchester United could be ready with a surprise move for Ben Brereton Diaz in the winter transfer window. The Red Devils could try to entice Blackburn Rovers with an €11 million bid for the 23-year-old striker.

Manchester United have felt the need for a new pair of feet in the final third as their current plans have not been executed well by the offensive contingent. Erik ten Hag has tried a number of combinations since his arrival, but the absence of a proper number nine has hurt his team the most.

Having splashed the money in the summer, Manchester United were not supposed to return to the market in January. But as they are in contention for a top-four finish, ten Hag has prioritised the arrival of a new striker this winter.

The Manchester United manager might also have to deal with the imminent departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese international is contemplating leaving the club amid interest from Sporting CP.

The 37-year-old will leave for Qatar after this week and will keep his options open for a potential departure. Manchester United have also been looking for a right-back. But given their recent performances, a striker should have been on top of their list.

Ben Brereton Diaz’s current contract is set to expire in the summer, and it was suggested the player is ready to snub a contract extension as he would be looking for a new adventure. But the 23-year-old Chilean international recently insisted he is gunning up for the promotional battle with Blackburn Rovers, and his only priority is to take the club back to the top flight.

The player’s current stance will not block Manchester United’s intention. The Red Devils brought in Daniel James from Championship side Swansea City, but the Welshman did not have the desired result during his time at Old Trafford and departed from Old Trafford last year.

Brereton Diaz has not tasted the Premier League yet. But with players like Ivan Toney lighting up the top flight with their skills, Manchester United will be hoping for a repeat act with the 23-year-old striker.
