La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing in-form Dutch attacker Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Cody Gakpo is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Blaugrana will launch the offensive for the in-form Dutch attacker if Ferran Torres departs from Camp Nou in search of regular game-time.
Cody Gakpo has become a hot property in the market on the back of a memorable past 18 months. The 23-year-old has become a pivotal figure for PSV Eindhoven and started the 2022/23 season strongly. At the same time, he will also likely be a top performer for the Netherlands at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Dutch attacker has 13 goals and 14 assists in 21 appearances across all competitions. Gakpo’s performances have not gone unnoticed, with some of Europe’s most high-profile clubs setting their sights on him. And Barcelona might be one of his potential destinations in 2023.
Ferran Torres reportedly wants to leave Barcelona next year after falling down the pecking order at Camp Nou. The Spanish international has failed to produce the goods since arriving from Manchester City in January. In addition, Ousmane Dembele’s resurgence and the arrival of Raphinha has been detrimental to his fortunes.
While Torres has produced some decent performances this month, he has not been consistent enough to be a first-choice starter.
