Chelsea are tipped to consider an approach for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha.

According to a report in Givemesport, Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Crystal Palace marksman Wilfried Zaha and could contact Palace over a possible deal.

Zaha has been Palace’s main man but he has been linked with a number of clubs. His contract runs out next June although the club is trying to tie him down to a longer contract. The player needs to be convinced about the sporting project that Selhurst Park has prepared for him.

It would be the last chance for him to secure Champions League football as he will be turning 30 next month and no other club will offer another chance once he commits to his long-term future with the London club.

Zaha’s disappointing stint with Manchester United hasn’t had a lasting effect on his career as the forward has made his name since his arrival at Palace. The Eagles are always a frightening side to play with Zaha leading from the front.

Patrick Vieira reiterated his desire to keep Zaha at the club for a longer period and conceded the fact that the club will open contract talks with the player very soon.

Chelsea could find the opportunity perfect to hijack the player from the grasp of the Eagles. The Blues might choose to agree to a pre-contract in January. If Palace fails to find an agreement they would be looking to generate some cash by sanctioning his departure.

Zaha started his career on the wings but with time he has accommodated himself across the front three and is equally comfortable if he is handed the number 9 role.

Arsenal and Liverpool have also kept their interest intact in the player and could fight with the Blues for the service of the player. The 29-year-old is currently on a £130,000 per week wage and the Premier League clubs vying for his signature will definitely have the financial muscle to offer him a significant hike over his current pay scale.

it remains to be seen who wins his signature as the player has relished all kinds of roles he has been offered so far.
