Liverpool have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha, whose contract will expire at the end of the season.
According to Calciomercato, 29-year-old Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha on Liverpool’s radar ahead of the January transfer window.
Zaha has been one of the best wingers in the Premier League this season, and Liverpool could look to make a move for him. The Ivory Coast international will be a free agent in the summer and could be available for a reasonable price in January.
Liverpool are currently plagued with injuries across the board, and they recently lost Diogo Jota to a lengthy injury. The Portuguese attacker is set to miss the game against West Ham United and the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup and is out for several months.
Meanwhile, Luis Diaz is sidelined until after the World Cup as well, and Liverpool are now left with Fabio Carvalho as the only player who can operate as the left-sided winger.
Zaha will be an excellent acquisition for the Reds, and he could make an immediate impact at Anfield. The 29-year-old is well settled in the Premier League. And he has scored five goals and picked up an assist in just nine league appearances.
Crystal Palace will not want to lose the player as a free agent at the end of the season. And therefore, Liverpool could tempt them into selling Zaha in January for a nominal price. Liverpool have shown some signs of recovery after a poor start to the league campaign. They picked up a 1-0 win over Manchester City at the weekend and are up to eighth in the table.
Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to finish in the top four, and a signing like Zaha could galvanise his side. Apart from pace and flair, Zaha will add goals to the side as well. The winger has been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park for months.
He was reportedly on Arsenal and Chelsea’s radar a few months ago. A player of Zaha’s calibre deserves to play at a higher level, and a move to Liverpool could be tempting for him.
