Real Madrid keen on signing Pierre Kalulu

La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Pierre Kalulu from Serie A giants AC Milan.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Pierre Kalulu is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a move in the 2023 summer transfer window. AC Milan will demand around €30 million to part ways with the 22-year-old defender.

Pierre Kalulu has made gradual progress since joining AC Milan from Lyon in September 2020. The Frenchman was not a regular in his first two seasons with the Rossoneri. But his stock started rising in the 2021/22 campaign, as he produced a few impressive performances en route to the Serie A triumph.

The 22-year-old has stepped his game up several notches this season, becoming the first-choice partner for Fikayo Tomori. Kalulu has made 15 appearances thus far, including 11 outings in Serie A. And his performances have captured the attention of several European bigwigs, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid brought in Antonio Rudiger in the summer transfer window. And the German centre-back’s arrival has left Carlo Ancelotti with a strong central defensive unit. With Eder Militao and David Alaba arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu in the last two years, Los Blancos’ arsenal is one of the strongest in Europe.

But Nacho is at an impasse with Real Madrid in talks over a new contract. And the Merengues will have to invest in a central defender if the Spaniard leaves the club. Several centre-backs, including Milan Skriniar, have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. And Kalulu is also a viable target for the Spanish champions.

Kalulu’s AC Milan teammate Fikayo Tomori is also reportedly a target for Real Madrid. But the 22-year-old is also an option worth looking at, considering the progress he has shown this year. The youngster will not be expensive either, with AC Milan slapping a €30 million price tag on him.

But the Serie A champions ideally want to part ways with Kalulu in a swap deal involving Eduardo Camavinga. Unfortunately for AC Milan, Real Madrid will never consider such an operation. So a straight €30 million move for the young defender might be the only solution to ensure a summer transfer.
