La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly considering a summer move for 24-year-old English international Fikayo Tomori.

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Fikayo Tomori is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the 2023 summer transfer window. The 24-year-old AC Milan defender is one of two Serie A-based centre-backs on Los Blancos’ radar.

Fikayo Tomori has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A since joining AC Milan from Chelsea. The Blues surprisingly let the 24-year-old leave last year. And the decision has come back to haunt the west Londoners, who remain in the market for a centre-back.

Meanwhile, Tomori has been a pivotal figure for AC Milan in the past 18 months and was instrumental in their Serie A triumph last season. The English international has turned out 77 times for the Rossoneri, chipping in with three goals. And his performances have captured the attention of Real Madrid.

The reigning La Liga champions have signed a centre-back in each of the last three summer transfer windows. So it is somewhat surprising that Real Madrid might look to bring in another central defender next summer. But recent reports have suggested that talks between Nacho and Real Madrid are not going to plan.

The veteran defender might thus depart from the Santiago Bernabeu when his contract runs out. And with David Alaba on the wrong side of 30, the Merengues might have to consider bringing in a long-term central defensive solution. Signing a centre-back will also mean Real Madrid will not need to invest in a left-back for the foreseeable future.

Several players, including Milan Skriniar, have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. And Tomori is also a viable target for Los Blancos. The 24-year-old has his best years ahead of him and is growing at a steep rate. So the English international is an option worth considering for next summer.

But Tomori’s contract with AC Milan runs until June 30, 2027. So prising him away from San Siro will be a tall order for Real Madrid, especially with the player settled and happy in Italy. However, the lure of representing Real Madrid turns the heads of the best players. And it will be interesting to see if that will be the case for the 24-year-old English international.
