Arsenal could move ahead of the queue in Mykhaylo Mudryk’s chase, with Mikel Arteta keen to add quality options in January.

According to Daily Mail, Arsenal are the front-runners in the chase for Mykhaylo Mudryk. The winger, a target for the Gunners in the summer, could make a move in January. Mikel Arteta is seeking quality reinforcements for the winter, with AS Roma also in contention for the attacker, having seen a bid rejected by Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mykhaylo Mudryk’s name emerged as a potential transfer target for Arsenal late in the summer. Mikel Arteta was keen on bringing in a wide-attacker but failed to achieve his goals. Adding a quality winger to compete with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli is vital in the next window.

Raphinha was Arsenal’s primary target. But after a long-drawn-out saga, the Brazilian chose to join Barcelona. Injuries to key midfielders in the latter stages of the transfer window ensured Arteta’s focus shifted toward other areas.

With Arsenal leading the standings in the Premier League, Arteta will be keen to add a quality attacker in January to strengthen the squad. The need could become stronger if the Gunners head into the World Cup break at the top of the table.

Mudryk’s name is being sounded out once more. The Ukrainian attacker had given the nod to the possibility of playing for Arsenal. While that would boost the Gunners, they might make another attempt at signing him. They do face competition from PSG and AS Roma for the winger.

Shakhtar have quoted €50 million to Arsenal for the attacker, which may have halted proceedings to bring him to north London. But Arteta could sanction a move, even at that price range, with everything looking in place.

Roma are also interested in Mudryk. Jose Mourinho’s side have reportedly had a bid rejected by Shakhtar. The Ukrainian giants continue holding out for a fee of more the previously quoted sum. That range would not seem like a problem for Arsenal in their attempts to sign the attacker.

The January transfer window would be crucial in determining the outcome of Mudryk’s future. Arsenal could look to move ahead of the queue with a sizeable offer, which may strengthen their interest in the winger.
