Tottenham have entered the chase for Manuel Locatelli alongside Arsenal, as speculation about his future continues

According to Calciomercatoweb, Tottenham want to sign Manuel Locatelli at the next available opportunity. The Italian midfielder is reportedly unhappy with his situation at Juventus, which may prompt the club into a sale.

Manuel Locatelli’s situation has not improved at Juventus despite controlled performances this term. Massimiliano Allegri’s ideal midfield trio consists of Adrien Rabiot, Leandro Paredes and Paul Pogba. But due to Pogba’s injury, Locatelli is playing more games alongside Weston McKennie.

Juventus could find solutions to revamp their midfield options in January. But they may have to sell first to re-invest into the squad. McKennie and Locatelli are reportedly dispensable for Allegri, thus alerting a host of Premier League sides.

Arsenal were keen on Locatelli last year but could not convince the midfielder over a switch to north London. The Gunners are a different team now, and their chances could have increased since. Mikel Arteta wants to make an approach in January, but Arsenal might have Tottenham joining the chase.

Spurs are eager to strengthen their squad further and build it to Antonio Conte’s specifications. At the same time, Tottenham have a host of central midfielders. Adding another one will make little sense to many of their supporters. Various reports suggest they are looking for a new player in the position, making Locatelli a viable target.

Tottenham director Fabio Paratici is keen to use his influence in Turin and explore the idea of signing Locatelli. Juventus could be willing to sanction a move for around €35-40 million, as they want to recoup much of the fees owed to Sassuolo.

The price is within range for Tottenham or even Arsenal. Recent reports stated Locatelli would be happy to continue at Juventus, but pressure from the top could change the outcome of that decision.

The Tottenham hierarchy feels bringing in players of Locatelli’s pedigree would help convince Conte to sign an extension. For now, the race might be open as Locatelli could be on the market as the January window approaches. There’s plenty of time for Tottenham to make their case, but that is also true for Arsenal.
