Bukayo Saka will reject overtures from rival clubs, including Chelsea, to pen a new Arsenal deal, with talks reportedly progressing.

According to Ben Jacobs on The Football Terrace, Bukayo Saka is ready to sign a new long-term deal with Arsenal and reject approaches from rivals, including Chelsea. The west Londoners monitored the England international’s situation as their interest was well known. But Saka is keen to stay with the Gunners.

Arsenal are enjoying their best run of form in years, and the mood within the fanbase is just about right. The Gunners are top of the table and in the mix for the Premier League title with Manchester City. In the short term, they have to make a few decisions to boost the Emirates atmosphere.

Among those are the contract extensions of young stars. Bukayo Saka looks like the important player at the club. Alongside the winger, Arsenal also want to offer new deals to William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli, with the trio having an exceptional season so far.

Their futures are of utmost importance to Arsenal and Arteta. Talks are already progressing to extend those deals. But with rival clubs like Chelsea already sniffing around, the Gunners must sort and announce those contracts imminently.

The focus is more on academy graduate Saka with Chelsea lurking around. The Blues have embarked on a new project, where they are recruiting some of the top talents in football. And according to Ben Jacobs, the 21-year-old features highly on their list; but Arsenal fans need not be worried too much.

Jacobs insists Saka will sign a new deal amid talks with Arsenal. He might sign a reported £200,000-a-week five-year contract and reject any possible approaches from rival clubs, including Chelsea. The talk about the Blues has sustained in the media for their ability to offer more money. But the English winger is very happy with the progress under Arteta.

Jacobs said, “I don’t think Chelsea can stop this. I think if anything they’re being used as leverage as the final points are ironed out around this deal. Saka is untouchable, Arsenal are not going to sell him in the short-term to a Premier League rival and the player really enjoys working with Arteta.”

“As things stand, the framework of the contract is there and it’s going to about five years on roughly £200k-a-week. And that’s where there’s opportunity for Chelsea. They would be prepared to offer more than £200k-a-week. That’s where those stories are coming from.”

It will be good news for Arsenal fans, who are desperate for Saka remain at the club. The 21-year-old has already shown his mettle this season, scoring four goals in the Premier League. He recently recorded a brace against Liverpool to keep Arsenal top of the league.

Saka’s current deal expires in 2024, with Arsenal holding an option for another season. In any case, the Gunners did not intend to sell the winger in the short term, particularly not to a direct rival.
