Manchester City are poised to make an offer for 16-year-old Irish sensation Sam Curtis after watching the teenager extensively.

According to Football Insider, St. Patrick Athletic star Sam Curtis is being courted by several clubs, including Manchester City. The Premier League champions are poised to make an offer imminently for the 16-year-old Irish sensation. But Pep Guardiola’s side may have to wait until he turns 18 to bring him to the Etihad.

Manchester City are considered one of the best teams in the continent, alongside their manager Pep Guardiola. The Premier League champions play some scintillating football and are revered for the quality of players they have at their disposal.

Currently, Manchester City trail Arsenal by a single point in the Premier League, yet they remain overwhelming favourites. One aspect of the club is the relentless focus on improving their squad, either for the current setup or by bringing in players for the future.

In recent years, since Guardiola became manager, Manchester City have had a brilliant stable of young up-and-coming players. Liam Delap, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden showcase the club’s prowess at youth levels.

Foden is already a formidable player and an established England international. But Manchester City continue searching for young stars across the continent and have recently stumbled upon a few. Those include the lesser-known Giorgio Scalvini from Atalanta and Sam Curtis of St. Patrick’s Athletic.

Pursuits of stars like Jude Bellingham will excite the fans more, but the likes of Scalvini and Curtis are essential. The latter is a 16-year-old Irish sensation from St. Patrick’s Athletic, who has received rave reviews for his displays in Ireland.

Curtis became the youngest-ever player for his previous club, Shamrock Rovers, debuting aged 14. He has played 17 times since moving to St. Patrick’s and continues to impress those in charge. There is considerable interest from European clubs, including AS Roma, Bayer Leverkusen, and Feyenoord.

However, Manchester City are thought to be the front-runners to sign the 16-year-old. The Premier League champions could be expected to make an imminent offer to try and sign him. However, in this case, Brexit rules will prevent players from leaving Ireland before they turn 18, meaning Manchester City may have to wait to acquire him.

Curtis is already talked about for his physical prowess, while he can play centre-back or right-back positionally. The future of defenders already points toward the preference for more versatile players, and Curtis ticks plenty of boxes.

Manchester City will undoubtedly be an attractive option for Curtis. The club are keen to secure this signing immediately and integrate him when he turns 18.
