Manchester City and Chelsea are reportedly front-runners for the signature of Jude Bellingham next summer.

According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund only have a slim chance of holding on to Jude Bellingham beyond this season. A return to one of England’s big clubs is reportedly a dream for the midfielder, with Chelsea and Manchester City in front of the queue for his signature.

Borussia Dortmund could have cashed in on Jude Bellingham in the summer but decided against selling the midfielder. Plenty of clubs were keen on signing the teenage sensation, but the German giants wanted to see through his development for probably another term.

While the England international has remained in impressive form, he may not remain with Dortmund beyond the current season. Dortmund will not sell cheaply, and they will likely demand top value for their prized asset.

Liverpool were considered the favourites during the summer, but two other teams could pip the Reds for Bellingham. Manchester City and Chelsea are those clubs vying for the Englishman. The Premier League giants have the financial muscle to get a deal done.

Dortmund will demand a huge fee for Bellingham, which Chelsea and Manchester City could be prepared to pay. The Blues are looking to improve their squad drastically and want new, young leaders to take the team into the next era.

Todd Boehly will be willing to discuss a deal with Dortmund, although he may also need Bellingham’s approval over a move. The England international will have to evaluate his offers, he is generating interest from some other top clubs, including Real Madrid.

However, the most potent competitor for Chelsea would be Manchester City. The report claims Pep Guardiola’s side will tempt Bellingham by showing the success achieved by Erling Haaland at the club. The England international is considered a solid replacement for Ilkay Gundogan, who could depart the club next summer.

Haaland and Bellingham enjoyed a good relationship at Dortmund, which could play a significant role. However, for now, the summer transfer window is far away, and the coming months will show how the pursuit of the midfielder progresses.

Both Chelsea and Manchester City will drastically improve their side with the signing of Bellingham. While he will cost big fees, the shortlist of clubs is narrowed down to two or possibly three, with Chelsea and Manchester City sitting at the summit.
