Chelsea to battle Liverpool and Real Madrid for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham who continues to draw attention for his performances.

According to The Telegraph, Premier League heavyweights Chelsea are now keen to battle Liverpool and Real Madrid for the signature of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in the upcoming transfer windows.

The 19-year-old is already a regular for Dortmund and England and continues to go from strength to strength. Despite Liverpool and Real leading the race for the player, Todd Boehly and co have reached out to the player’s camp and are seeking to make inroads to further their case.

The new Chelsea owner is keen to crash the party of last season’s UEFA Champions League finalists and believes his side stands a reasonable chance of making a dent in the transfer race. The Blues have shown ambition under the American and went big last summer, bringing in the likes of Raheem Sterling, Wesly Fofana and Marc Cucurella among others.

One area of the squad that went unaddressed was the midfield. N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are both in the final year of their contracts and have also started to show their age. They will need to be replaced sooner or later if Chelsea are serious about challenging for the top.

Liverpool and Real Madrid are ahead of the Blues in their efforts to land the player and can potentially offer him a better chance at glory. Chelsea are still finding their feet under Boehly and are yet to hit their stride. While the American might have big plans, money might not give him the edge in the transfer market all the time.

In Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti, Bellingham could potentially play two managers who are amongst the best in the modern era. Graham Potter, to be fair, is still a novice compared to them and could lack the same pull, especially for ambitious players.

More so, Liverpool also needs a starting calibre player who can slot in alongside Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho, and with Jordan Henderson ageing, Bellingham fits the bill perfectly. The 19-year-old should have no problem securing regular playing time at Anfield, and the same can be said of Real despite their star-studded midfield roster.

The Blues have not enjoyed the best of starts to the season, and find themselves a step behind the early frontrunners both at home and in Europe. Missing out on a top-four finish could prove extremely detrimental to the club’s chances of landing one of the world’s best young players. It could very well turn out that Chelsea’s chances of securing Bellingham could be decided on the pitch this season.
