La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a Bosman move for 27-year-old Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Milan Skriniar is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible Bosman move in the 2023 summer transfer window. The Blaugrana will look to sign a few more free agents next year, as they did in the last few months.

Milan Skriniar has been one of the best defenders in Serie A for around half a decade now. The 27-year-old had already made his mark during his short stint with Sampdoria but has gone from strength to strength since joining Inter Milan in July 2017.

The Slovakian centre-back has made over 200 appearances for Inter Milan, chipping in with 11 goals and four assists. He also played a pivotal role when the Nerazzurri clinched the Serie A title in 2020/21. But Skriniar has entered the final year of his contract, with his situation capturing the attention of Barcelona.

The Catalan giants have not let their financial woes stop them from making clever signings in the last two years. Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, and Memphis Depay are a few players who have joined Barcelona in Bosman moves. And the Blaugrana will continue following that formula to sign more players next summer.

Skriniar has thus emerged as a viable target, even though Barcelona signed Jules Kounde this past summer. That is because Gerard Pique is in the twilight of his career, with his game regressing considerably. So Barcelona will look to bring in a centre-back next summer, with the 27-year-old being their latest target.

Inigo Martinez has reportedly been Barcelona’s top target for a few months. But like the Spanish international, Skriniar will be a free agent next summer if he does not sign a new contract. And at 27, the Slovak can offer Barcelona many more years of top-notch performances as he is at his peak.

Apart from the two defenders, several other potential free agents are also on Barcelona’s radar. These include Youri Tielemans, N’Golo Kante, and Jorginho, among others. As for Skriniar, it will be interesting to see if the Catalan giants seriously pursue him for a Bosman move next summer.
