Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are reportedly in advanced talks over a late move for 30-year-old Belgian full-back Thomas Meunier.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona might be inching closer to securing the services of Thomas Meunier before the summer transfer window shuts down. The Borussia Dortmund defender is ready to leave the Bundesliga club to move to Camp Nou.

Thomas Meunier joined Borussia Dortmund from Paris Saint-Germain a couple of years ago and has since made gradual progress in his career. The Belgian international has excelled on the international stage, but he has continued to blow hot and cold at the Bundesliga club, as he had done at PSG.

The 30-year-old full-back has turned out 63 times for Borussia Dortmund while chipping in with three goals and seven assists. But Meunier feels his time at the Bundesliga club might be up amid interest from Barcelona, who had also tried to sign him in the January transfer window.

The Catalan giants have been attempting different ploys to secure the services of Meunier, but their efforts have not been fruitful. The interest from Barcelona came in the wake of Cesar Azpilicueta’s decision to commit his future to Chelsea, even though personal terms had been finalised between the two parties.

Meunier, on the other hand, is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona before the summer transfer window shuts down. And according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are advancing in discussions over a late move for the 30-year-old full-back.

Personal terms should not be an issue for Barcelona, considering the Belgian international wants to move to Camp Nou after missing the bus in the January transfer window. But with less than 48 hours left before the summer transfer window shuts down, Barcelona will need to move quickly to finalise the transfer fee with the Bundesliga giants.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona will have enough time to complete the signing of Thomas Meunier while making enough room in the wage bill to register him in La Liga. The 30-year-old will likely push to complete the move to Camp Nou before Thursday’s deadline.
