Manchester City firm on €100 million Bernardo Silva valuation

Barcelona will reportedly need to fork out €100 million to sign their priority target Bernardo Silva from Manchester City this summer.

According to a report by The Athletic, Manchester City will not waver from the price tag they have set on Bernardo Silva in the ongoing transfer window. Barcelona will have to shell out €100 million to secure the services of their priority target this month.

Bernardo Silva has been one of the hottest properties in the market this summer on the back of an excellent 2021/22 campaign with Manchester City. The Portuguese international was a pivotal figure for the Citizens as they successfully defended their Premier League crown last season.

But Silva faces an uncertain future at the Etihad this summer as he wants to embark on a new adventure, with Barcelona his preferred destination. And the Catalan giants have been hot on the heels of the 28-year-old Manchester City midfielder for most of the transfer window thus far.

Barcelona will look to offload Frenkie de Jong this summer to balance the books, lighten the wage bill, and register the other new signings who might arrive at Camp Nou this summer. And while the Dutch midfielder does not want to leave Barcelona, the Blaugrana will aim to replace him with Bernardo Silva if their plan works.

Recent reports had claimed that Barcelona and Manchester City had already agreed to a transfer fee for Silva. But the Premier League champions have refuted such claims, with Pep Guardiola recently insisting that he does not want to lose the Portuguese playmaker in the ongoing transfer window.

According to The Athletic, Manchester City will demand €100 million to part ways with Silva, which might be a prohibitive price tag for Barcelona. With Frenkie de Jong’s sale unlikely to yield as much as €100 million, Barcelona will have to raise some funds to secure the services of the 28-year-old.

While personal terms will not be an issue for Barcelona, signing Silva by shelling out €100 million seems like a tall order right now. But it will be interesting to see if the Catalan giants land their priority target from Manchester City before the summer transfer window shuts down.
