Chelsea youth prospect Omari Hutchinson is reportedly set for a loan spell at Reading just a month after joining the Blues from Arsenal.

According to Chelsea Loan Army on Twitter, new signing Omari Hutchinson is set to leave the Blues and join EFL Championship side Reading on loan for the upcoming campaign.

Hutchinson joined Chelsea earlier this summer, arriving from London rivals Arsenal. The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects in England. An attacking midfielder, he can play in the No. 10 role or on either flank and had made a solid impression for Arsenal’s youth teams before his move to Chelsea.

Indeed, Hutchinson posted a tally of 17 goals and 16 assists from 46 appearances combined for Arsenal’s Under-18 and Under-23 sides. The youngster, who is eligible to represent both England and Jamaica at the international level, joined Chelsea only last month, with the Blues beating competition from several other clubs for his signing.

And, Chelsea are instantly sending him out on loan to ensure that his development does not stall and he continues to progress rapidly. A move to Championship outfit Reading FC is now on the cards for the 18-year-old prospect.

The report states that the deal is all but complete with just a medical and the final details of the agreement in need of sorting. Chelsea and Reading are also discussing the share of wages that each team would have to cover, with Reading not doing all too well financially at the moment.

As iterated earlier, Hutchinson is an exciting prospect, but he would struggle for regular game-time in Thomas Tuchel’s side in the upcoming season. So, instead of spending the campaign playing with the reserves and making a few cup appearances, joining Reading on loan where he would have a better chance at getting regular minutes with the first team seems the right move.

The likes of Reece James and Mason Mount earned their spurs on loan spells in the English second division before becoming mainstays in the Chelsea senior team. And the west Londoners will hope that Hutchinson’s career also follows a similar trajectory and he returns a much-improved player after his spell with the Royals.
