Barcelona reach agreement with Bernardo Silva

La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with priority midfield target Bernardo Silva.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Bernardo Silva has taken a step closer to securing his desired move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The two parties have zeroed in on the final figures of the personal agreement, with the Blaugrana now looking to convince Manchester City to part ways with the Portuguese international.

Bernardo Silva has become a pivotal figure for Manchester City after a few years of being a rotation option for Pep Guardiola. The 27-year-old was one of the first names on the team sheet in the 2021/22 season, amassing 13 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

But the Portuguese international faces an uncertain future at the Etihad, as he wants to embark on a new adventure while he is still in his peak years. And Silva’s priority destination is Camp Nou, with Barcelona reportedly scrambling to secure the services of the Manchester City midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Recent reports also claimed that intermediaries offered Barcelona and Real Madrid the chance to sign Silva from Manchester City. But the Premier League champions have refuted such suggestions, insisting he remains an indispensable figure for Pep Guardiola. But Barcelona and Silva have edged closer to sealing a summer transfer.

The report claims that Barcelona and Silva have reached an agreement on personal terms, which is hardly surprising, considering his desire to join the Blaugrana. The real task begins now for Barcelona, as they will have to convince Manchester City to part ways with the 27-year-old.

The Catalan giants view Silva as a replacement for Frenkie de Jong, who faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou. The Dutch midfielder is on the transfer list, as offloading him will help Barcelona balance the books and register new players. And Silva is the ideal candidate to replace de Jong.

But coaxing Manchester City to sell Silva will be an uphill task for Barcelona, with recent reports claiming the Catalan giants have issued a “hands off” warning to his suitors. But with the Portuguese international agreeing on personal terms, the summer move might see the light of day soon, especially with Manchester City eyeing Lucas Paqueta as his replacement.
