La Liga champions Real Madrid have reportedly asked Real Sociedad to keep them informed about the situation of Alexander Isak this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, La Liga champions Real Madrid have asked Real Sociedad to keep them in the loop if a suitor approaches the Basque club in the summer transfer window. The Swedish striker is valued at around €90 million by La Real.

Alexander Isak might not have set the stage alight during his ongoing stint with Real Sociedad but remains one of the most promising young strikers across Europe. The 22-year-old has drawn comparisons with Zlatan Ibrahimovic over the years but has not yet hit the heights his potential has promised.

The Swedish international turned out 128 times for Real Sociedad while amassing a record of 43 goals and eight assists. But Isak has still managed to capture the attention of some of Europe’s most high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

The reigning La Liga champions do not need to sign a new first-choice striker, as Karim Benzema has gone from strength to strength in the last few years. With the French international the most influential member of the Real Madrid squad, Los Blancos can do without an expensive centre-forward.

But it is worth noting that Benzema is well into his thirties and approaching the final phase of his glittering career. So even though the veteran striker is a talismanic figure for Real Madrid, the Merengues have to lay down a succession plan for him, which might have brought Isak on their radar.

But recent reports have claimed that the 22-year-old will likely remain at Real Sociedad beyond the summer transfer window, with his €90 million price tag posing a problem for suitors. However, while Real Madrid might not launch the offensive for Isak this summer, they have asked their fellow La Liga club to keep them in the loop if a suitor approaches the Basque club.

Real Madrid might have to launch the offensive to sign the Swede if a suitor places a bid anytime soon. For now, Real Madrid will continue to monitor the progress of the young striker, and it will be interesting to see if Isak leave Real Sociedad in a €90 million deal this summer.
