La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly closely monitoring the situation of 24-year-old Spanish playmaker Dani Olmo at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Dani Olmo is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the 2023 summer transfer window. The Merengues have been monitoring his situation closely at Bundesliga club RB Leipzig for a long time.

Dani Olmo started his youth career with Barcelona before taking the plunge by joining Dinamo Zagreb to pursue his professional career. The Spaniard’s decision was well thought out as he went from strength to strength at the Croatian club before moving to a big league by joining Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig in January 2020.

The 24-year-old has progressed considerably in the last 30 months, amassing 16 goals and 17 assists in 90 appearances thus far. And Olmo’s growth has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs in Europe, with Real Madrid closely monitoring his situation at the Red Bull Arena.

Real Madrid will need to lay down a succession plan for Luka Modric in the upcoming season as the veteran Croatian midfielder is in the twilight of his career. Modric will turn 37 later this year, meaning the Spanish giants eventually need to phase him out as a regular.

In addition, Toni Kroos is approaching the final phase of his career, and he could reportedly decide to retire early. Several creative midfielders, including Jude Bellingham, have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar over a possible move in the summer transfer window next year, with Olmo also a viable target.

Olmo has reportedly been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time, and the report mentions they have been closely monitoring his situation for months. The Spanish giants might launch the offensive for the 24-year-old in 2023, when he will have one year remaining on his contract with RB Leipzig.

There is a good chance that Olmo will leave the Bundesliga club next summer if he does not agree to a new contract over the course of the 2022/23 season. But Real Madrid might have to fend off stiff competition from Barcelona in the race to sign Olmo, with the Blaugrana also considering a 2023 move for the 24-year-old.
