Manchester United and Leeds United will need to set their sights on alternatives for Danny Ings, with Aston Villa uninterested in selling the Englishman.

According to Sky Sports News, Aston Villa will not entertain any offers for Danny Ings in the summer transfer window. Steven Gerrard views the 29-year-old striker as an integral member of his squad amid interest from Manchester United and Leeds United.

Danny Ings has endured a topsy turvy ride in the Premier League since his first season in the top flight with Burnley nearly eight years ago. The English international has enjoyed fruitful stints with Burnley and Southampton, but the spell with Liverpool was a dud, with injury problems hampering his progress.

The 29-year-old joined Aston Villa from Burnley in a £25 million deal last summer. But instead of taking his career to the next level, he managed a sub-par tally of seven goals and six assists in 30 Premier League outings. Despite Ings’s struggles, Manchester United and Leeds United showed an interest in prising him away from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United will delve into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window following Edinson Cavani’s departure as a free agent. With Cristiano Ronaldo in the twilight of his storied career, the Red Devils need to have an alternative to the veteran Portuguese forward.

To that end, Darwin Nunez had emerged as a important target for Manchester United before the Uruguayan international chose Liverpool. And Ings was also a viable target for Manchester United, who had faced stiff competition from Leeds United in the race to sign the Aston Villa striker.

The Whites are eager to sign a solid backup for Patrick Bamford after a horrific season left them short of quality attacking options during an injury-riddled campaign for the Englishman. As a result, several strikers, including Junior Adamu, have popped up on Leeds’s radar, with Ings also an option worth considering. But Aston Villa will not entertain offers for the 29-year-old forward.
