Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid playmaker Brahim Diaz permanently in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Brahim Diaz could complete a permanent move to AC Milan in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants are ready to sanction the Real Madrid playmaker’s signing early but will look to bring the price tag down from €30 million.

Brahim Diaz spent his formative years at Malaga before joining Manchester City in 2015. The 22-year-old made his first-team debut for the Citizens in September 2016, but first-team opportunities came few and far between for him. A frustrated Diaz subsequently joined Real Madrid in January 2019, but his situation did not improve drastically.

While the Spanish playmaker featured 11 times across all competitions in the second half of the 2018/19 season, his stature dropped drastically in the 2019/20 campaign. Another departure followed as Diaz left Real Madrid to join AC Milan on loan in September 2020.

The young playmaker enjoyed a solid 2020/21 season with the Rossoneri, playing a pivotal role in a memorable Serie A campaign that ended with their return to the UEFA Champions League. Diaz’s performances prompted AC Milan to re-sign him on loan from Real Madrid last summer, but his output significantly dropped this term.

Diaz managed only four goals and four assists in 40 appearances for AC Milan, even as they clinched the Serie A title for the first time in 11 years. The 22-year-old’s current loan deal runs until next summer, but the Italian giants are ready to sign him permanently one year early.

Real Madrid will not block a transfer, especially considering they are scouring the market for a creative midfielder. Several playmakers, including Fabian Ruiz, have emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. So Diaz might not have a future at Real Madrid, with the move to AC Milan a reasonable solution.

But the Serie A heavyweights want to negotiate Real Madrid’s €30 million price tag, which is posing a problem for them, especially with their takeover yet to go through. It will be interesting to see if the two clubs reach a compromise or if Real Madrid will stick to the €30 million asking price.
