La Liga heavyweights Barcelona reportedly have no intention of signing 27-year-old Belgian international Adnan Januzaj in a Bosman move this summer.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Adnan Januzaj will not move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old Belgian international will become a free agent in July after leaving Real Sociedad, with his future up in the air.

Adnan Januzaj is the classic case of a player with unfulfilled potential. The player seemed to be the next big thing when he took the Premier League by storm in his debut season for Manchester United in 2013/14. But he failed to take his game to the next level at Old Trafford. And after two unsuccessful loan stints away from Manchester United, Januzaj joined Real Sociedad in July 2017.

But the 27-year-old has blown hot and cold at the Basque club, failing to perform consistently and nail down a regular berth in the side. The Belgian international has amassed a sub-par tally of 23 goals and 21 assists in 168 appearances for Real Sociedad. And Januzaj’s stint with La Real will end in July when he becomes a free agent, with his representatives offering him to Barcelona.

Barcelona showed some interest in Januzaj for a while, with his agent Mino Raiola discussing a Bosman move with the Blaugrana before his untimely death. Recent reports have suggested that the former Manchester United forward might be an alternative to Barcelona’s priority target Raphinha.

But it looks like Barcelona will put all their eggs in the Raphinha-shaped basket, especially with the Leeds United forward keen on moving to Camp Nou. So the Catalan giants have no interest in securing the services of Januzaj and will turn down the opportunity to sign the 27-year-old Belgian international.

Barcelona will need to invest in a wide attacker in the summer transfer window as Adama Traore will not rejoin the Catalan club permanently. At the same time, Ousmane Dembele faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou, with Barcelona losing hope of keeping hold of the French forward beyond the summer transfer window.

So while Januzaj might have been a viable target for Barcelona, he will not move to Camp Nou, with the Blaugrana having other priorities. But the 27-year-old Belgian international could still remain in La Liga, with Sevilla and Valencia showing an interest in signing him in a Bosman move.
