Real Madrid and PSG have submitted enquiries for Kalvin Phillips, but the Englishman wants to remain in the Premier League amid interest from Manchester City.

According to a report by Daily Mirror, Kalvin Phillips will want to stay put in England if Leeds United cannot avoid the drop this weekend. The English international is a target for Real Madrid, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, with Manchester United also closely monitoring his situation.

Kalvin Phillips has worked hard to carve an indelible reputation for himself. The 26-year-old slogged it out in the EFL Championship with boyhood club Leeds United for years before earning promotion to the Premier League two years ago. And the player has taken to the top flight like fish to water, establishing himself as one of the most dependable midfielders in the country.

But the 2021/22 season has been forgettable for Phillips as he spent most of the campaign on the sidelines with various injuries. The Englishman has featured in just half of Leeds’s Premier League games this term, which is why it is hardly surprising the Whites have struggled so much in his absence.

Phillips might have to take the next step in his career by leaving Leeds in the summer transfer window if the Whites get relegated. And the player has no shortage of suitors pursuing him, with Real Madrid, Manchester City and PSG keen on securing his services.

The interest from Real Madrid stems from the surprising uncertainties surrounding Casemiro. The Brazilian could leave Los Blancos in the summer transfer window amid dragging contract talks. Real Madrid might thus need to invest in a top-class holding midfielder, making Phillips a viable target.

As for Manchester City, the Premier League champions view the 26-year-old as a long-term successor for Fernandinho. This summer, the veteran Brazilian midfielder will leave Manchester City as a free agent, prompting the Citizens to scour the market for a viable replacement.

Meanwhile, PSG will have to remodel their midfield unit, which has faltered considerably this term. With Idrissa Gueye, Georginio Wijnaldum and Ander Herrera into their thirties, Les Parisiens need a new holding midfielder, making Phillips an option worth considering.

But Real Madrid and PSG will have to set their sights elsewhere for a holding midfielder as Phillips wants to remain in the Premier League if Leeds United cannot avoid the drop. In addition, the 26-year-old is prepared to reject the Whites’ bitter rivals Manchester United, handing Manchester City a boost in his pursuit. But the Englishman’s final decision hinges on Leeds’s future in the top flight.
