Chelsea skipper Reece James has ruled out the possibility of joining Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the future.

Manchester City are keen on reinforcing their defence. The treble winners want to add a new right-sided full-back to the mix and they have their eyes on Chelsea’s Reece James. While City are keen on having him in their ranks, the 23-year-old has no intentions of making a move to another Premier League club.

James has been at Chelsea since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and has been a part of their first since the summer of 2019. The England international has been a content performer for the Blues and he is currently their club captain.

The 23-year-old is amongst the best right-backs in world football and there is always interest in his services. While his current deal with the London club runs until the summer of 2028, a few clubs are still looking to acquire his services.

City are one of the clubs who are very much interested in the England international. Pep Guardiola’s team will soon push for a new right-sided full-back. Joao Cancelo might return from loan after the end of the season but he is unlikely to have a future at the Manchester-based club.

On top of that, Kyle Walker is already 33-year-old. While he might still be performing at his best, Walker is in the twilight of his career. As they do need a new full-back. City have been on the lookout for the best possible options to bolster the right-back position and James is a name on top of the list.

While City are keen on having him in their ranks, the player doesn’t seem to be interested in such a move. According to a report via TEAMtalk, the player and his representatives are well aware of the fact that if wants to leave the Blues down the line, City would surely push for his services.

But, he doesn’t consider making a move to the Manchester-based club. James loves Chelsea and dreams of winning the Premier League as the skipper of the club. The report suggests the player could be tempted by the arrival of Real Marid but as of now, he is committed to the project at the London club.

“Reece and his camp are aware that if he wanted to leave, City would be first in the queue – but that isn’t under consideration. He loves Chelsea, they love him, and he wants to lift the Premier League as their captain.

“In the future, could he be tempted by Real Madrid? That would depend how things go, but don’t rule it out.”
