Widespread reports have claimed that Liverpool are interested in signing the 20-year-old defender. Colwill was on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion last season and the Seagulls were keen on signing him permanently as well.

The defender will probably hope for regular game time at Stamford Bridge next season. But it remains to be seen whether Chelsea can provide him with first-team assurances. Chelsea need defensive reinforcements after the ACL injury to Wesley Fofana and the impending departure of Kalidou Koulibaly. They cannot afford to let Colwill leave the club in the summer and weaken their defence further.
