Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane has been linked with a move back to the Premier League, with Liverpool and Manchester City keen.

Leroy Sane has entered the final 18 months of his contract and he has been linked with clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City. The player has now revealed (h/t 90min) that he is focused on the current campaign with the German club and he is not thinking about his future just yet.

The player added that Bayern Munich are hoping to discuss a new contract with him. It will be interesting to see if the two parties can come to an agreement in the coming months.

“I haven’t given it [my future] any thought yet,” Sane said before adding, “The club wants to have talks, but at the moment I want to focus on this season. FC Bayern remains my first point of contact, there’s no doubt about that.”

Sane has proven to be a quality signing for Bayern Munich. So, it is no surprise that they are hoping to keep him at the club beyond his current contract. The player has previously proven his quality in the Premier League with Manchester City, and it remains to be seen whether the Premier League clubs can tempt him to return to English football once again.

Liverpool could certainly use a quality winger like him, especially if Mohamed Salah moves on at the end of the season. The Egyptian international has a contract at Liverpool until the summer of 2025, and the Reds might look to cash in on him at the end of the season if he refuses to sign an extension.

Sane would be a quality replacement for Salah. The 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers, and he knows the Premier League well. He could make an immediate impact at Anfield and the opportunity to play under a world-class manager like Jurgen Klopp will be an added incentive.

Meanwhile, his former employers Manchester City are keen on the player as well. They sanctioned the departure of Riyad Mahrez this past summer and could certainly use more depth in the wide areas. Sane knows the club well, and the opportunity to return could be an attractive proposition for him. It will be interesting to see where the German international ends up eventually.
