Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, hinted that his player could have an exit strategy should he not renew with Arsenal in the summer.

Mikel Arteta’s usage of Jorginho has reaped massive rewards this season, with the Italian a prominent figure in some of the big games that Arsenal have played. He seemingly gives the Gunners a different option and dimension while on the pitch, but there are concerns about whether he can play many games consecutively.

In any case, Arteta values him much as Arsenal are poised to open contract talks with the £110,000-a-week star. His current deal expires in the summer, but the Gunners can extend it by another season. However, according to his agent’s comments, Jorginho may be looking for a new deal altogether.

Joao Santos, the £110,000-a-week Arsenal star’s agent, insisted the midfielder may have several options, especially in Italy. There have been links to Juventus recently, although many others, including AC Milan, Inter Milan and Lazio, could potentially become options for the experienced star should he seek an exit in the summer.

While Santos’ comments on Milan Live hinted at a potential exit from Arsenal, he insists that renewing with Arteta’s side remains Jorginho’s priority. He also pointed out that no big Serie A side has come forward with an interest, but he believes some might come in as the season progresses.

Santos said, “In Serie A I would see him better at Lazio due to the presence of Sarri who knows his characteristics very well. Of course, also at Juventus where there is a great sporting director like Giuntoli with whom he lived good years at Napoli. I don’t even rule out a return to the blue team with the new coach Calzona who previously worked with Maurizio Sarri. But, by force and tradition, I don’t rule out Milan and Inter where anyone would like to play”.

He continued, “We will evaluate every proposal that comes to the table. But the priority is the renewal with Arsenal because he gets along very well with everyone, but with his contract expiring we hope the team that wants what is best for him arrives. On the return to Italy the market is a bit firm and slow compared to the past. I don’t know if it’s a matter of money and strategy but so far no big Serie A players have shown interest.”

Earlier in December, many reports stated that Jorginho could leave in the summer due to his position on the squad. However, Arterta’s usage of the Italian in bigger games shows how much faith there is in the midfielder, which could become a big reason for him to stay in North London.

Meanwhile, Santos’ comments also indicate that Jorginho has fantastic relations with the Arsenal squad and would only consider a return to Italy should he not renew with the Gunners. For now, the Italian midfielder may stay here and sign a short deal, which could be for a year, with the option for another season.
