Joey Veerman has been urged to snub any advances from Real Madrid in favour of joining Arsenal, where he can have a more significant influence.

Joey Veerman can become a big name in the transfer market in the summer, with a host of clubs likely to come into the mix to sign the midfielder. He has been superb for PSV Eindhoven this season, leading their title charge in the Eredivisie.

Veerman might leave Eindhoven in the summer, as there are several clubs keen on the Dutch international. Dutch football analyst Aad de Mos has weighed in on the 25-year-old midfielder’s future and profile, insisting he could be well-suited for Arsenal.

There have been rumours about Real Madrid’s interest in the midfielder, but realistically, Newcastle United are keen on him. De Mos insists that Veerman must make a stern decision on his future and avoid joining a club like Real Madrid, who are stacked with quality midfielders, and insisted Arsenal would be a better fit for him, as he spoke to FC Update.

De Mos said this about Veerman: “I think Veerman is a typical player for Arsenal.” “He (Veerman) is a different type than Taylor. The latter is also younger than Veerman. He has a great future and is now playing in a very bad team. Let everyone have their say. We will see in the long run.”

On the choice between Real Madrid and Arsenal, he said, “They have a lot of good midfielders there at the moment. With those two French guys (Edouardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni, ed.) and, of course, Bellingham. He won’t play much there. I think it would be better for him to move to Arsenal.”

Arsenal is in the market for a new midfielder as Mikel Arteta remains keen on adding a big-name player to aid Declan Rice. One of Thomas Partey or Jorginho might depart, which would make the club look for a replacement.

Douglas Luiz remains an option, but they appear to be prioritising a move for Martin Zubimendi. Meanwhile, Veerman could become an excellent option to consider, with the 25-year-old midfielder unlikely to cost as much as the other targets on Arsenal’s list.

Hence, Arteta should consider a move for Veerman, although Arsenal are not actively linked with the midfielder as things stand. Meanwhile, Real Madrid is not keen on a new midfielder despite the fact that some of their old stalwarts are likely to leave. For instance, they might look for a Luka Modric replacement, but that is unlikely to be Veerman.
