Jamie Carragher feels Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be demanding a transfer kitty of £200-250 million next summer.

As relayed by Football365, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher reiterated Jurgen Klopp might request the owners to sanction a hefty transfer budget which could be in the range of £200-250 million.

The Reds had a pretty turbulent last season when they lost the Premier League title to Manchester City by a solitary point. An unbelievable drama unfolded on the last day as City came back from two goals behind to outclass Aston Villa as they survived a last-minute scare.

The Merseysiders have failed to put in a commendable display this time around as their midfield has let them down a big time. Klopp took a considerable approach to bolster their midfield as he added Brazilian Arthur from Juventus on a loan deal on top of his existing midfield contingent.

But the move hasn’t paid off yet as the player has been on the sidelines since securing the transfer to Anfield. They have also been linked with a move for Jude Bellingham and Sofyan Amrabat and Carragher believes Klopp would be looking for hefty funds in January to cope with his midfield problems.

“It’s interesting whether it’s a sale or an investment. I think there’s no doubt that Jurgen Klopp has said to Liverpool’s owners ‘I need £200m-£250m to spend in the summer’.

“That sounds like an outrageous figure but that’s what Manchester United and Chelsea spent last summer. So these are the figures that the teams Liverpool are competing with are spending.

“I think probably once in Jurgen Klopp’s tenure have Liverpool really gone for it in the transfer market, I think it was just after the first Champions League final game, they bought a lot of players.

“And I think it needs that now, I think we’re talking about that type of investment. I don’t think FSG have those funds right now and that’s why they’re looking at investment to come in to help them.”

They are also tipped to bring in a forward as Darwin Nunez hasn’t been up to the mark as Sadio Mane’s departure has been felt in every match.
