Emile Heskey claims Morgan Rogers is the perfect fit for Arsenal

Morgan Rogers is drawing Arsenal interest as a potential blockbuster transfer, with former England striker Emile Heskey backing the 23-year-old as an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Morgan Rogers has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most sought-after young playmakers following a breakthrough campaign at Villa Park, where he has developed into a key creative force and earned regular recognition at international level. His performances have reportedly placed him at the top of Arsenal’s attacking shortlist as the club eyes reinforcements for its left-sided attacking roles.

Arsenal’s interest is understood to have progressed significantly in recent weeks, with sources indicating that discussions and groundwork around a potential deal are already well advanced. However, Aston Villa are determined to resist any attempts to prise away one of their most valuable assets, and are expected to demand a fee that could go into the nine figures if talks are to move forward.

Despite the scale of the proposed transfer, Heskey believes Rogers would seamlessly adapt to Arsenal’s style of play. Speaking about the midfielder’s qualities, the former Liverpool and England striker highlighted his intelligence on the ball, versatility across attacking positions, and strong temperament as key traits that make him stand out among Premier League talents.

He noted that Rogers would fit naturally into Arsenal’s tactical structure under Arteta, particularly in advanced midfield or wide creative roles.

“They’d love to keep Rogers because he’s such a good, intelligent player. He looks to have the right temperament, too. He’s been fantastic for Villa, and they should do all they can to keep him. But ultimately, every player has his price tag.

“Rogers would be a good fit at Arsenal, if Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen in that inside-left position,” Heskey explained via TEAMtalk, before adding, “But then again, he already has Eberechi Eze who plays in that position.

“Arsenal are going to play a lot of games next season; they played more than 60 matches last year, and it could easily be the same again. That means every first-team player will get game time – between Rogers and Eze, they could start 30 matches each, which is a good number.”

Arsenal’s demanding schedule would provide Rogers ample opportunities to make an impact alongside existing attacking options. The Gunners are widely believed to be prioritising attacking reinforcements this summer to add greater creativity and depth to their forward line, with Rogers viewed internally as a long-term solution rather than a short-term signing.
