Portuguese forward Diogo Jota has revealed that he would have loved to play alongside Bernardo Silva at Liverpool.

Diogo Jota was asked to name his dream teammate at Anfield, and he chose his compatriot Bernardo Silva. The Manchester City playmaker is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Premier League, and he would have been an exceptional option for Liverpool.

“Bernardo Silva, for me. For sure, he is probably one of the most intelligent football guys I have known,” Jota told YouTube channel That’s Football, before adding, “The way he can hide the ball as well from the opponent is special. I think I would go for him.”

Silva is versatile enough to operate on either flank, as well as a central attacking midfielder. He would have added technical ability, creativity, flair and goals to the Liverpool midfield, thus explaining Jota’s answer.

In addition to that, the Manchester City star is a hard-working player who would fit in perfectly at Anfield. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp prefers technically-gifted players with a solid work ethic like Silva, and he would have been a key player for the Reds.

Silva has been an indispensable asset for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. The Portuguese international is one of the first names on the teamsheet at the Etihad Stadium, and he has played a key role in their growth over the years.

The 29-year-old has helped Manchester City win multiple trophies, and he was exceptional last season. The midfielder played a key role as Manchester City won the treble. And a transfer from Manchester City to Liverpool is unlikely in the near future. So, Jota’s dream of playing alongside Silva at Anfield will have to remain a fantasy.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a move away from Manchester City in recent months, and clubs like Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on him. It will be interesting to see if Manchester City are prepared to let the player leave in the coming months.

Silva has the ability to improve most teams in the world, and a move to La Liga at this stage of his career could be an interesting option. He will look to prove himself at the highest level, and a move to Barcelona would allow him to compete for the major trophies. He has already shown his class in the Premier League and a new adventure in the near future could be tempting.
